First Pattern in Process!

First Pattern in Process!

Hello lovelies!

I’m super impatient to get my first pattern up onto this site and into the world! I have drafted the pattern in its entirety, including charts, but I’m still knitting the sample. So, I need to get that finished …

up and blocked so I can get photos and confirm final dimensions. Then, I want to have the pattern edited by a technical edit and perhaps have some test knitters give the pattern a go before I distribute it to Ravelry, iBooks, Etsy, etc.

The Egilda Wrap is a classic rectangular wrap (named for my mother) that’s large but airy with an expansive and highly geometric lace pattern and decorative edging. This design is the perfect backdrop to incorporate a subtle fade of colors. Designed to work with three colors, two skeins of the outside colors, and one of the inside, fading through them from edge to center and back, it also works with five colors.

Here is a peek at the colors I chose!

Clockwise from the top left, La Bien Aimee sock yarn in Aimee’s Birthday, Emma’s Yarn perfect sock yarn in Inlay, and The Lemonade Shop sock in Coco Loco. All three yarns are sock yarns in an 80/20 blend of superwash merino and nylon.

The Egilda Wrap is named for my mother, who taught me to knit, and who loves lace with strong geometry and classic rectangular wraps that provide warmth and coverage. The Roman columns are a nod to her Italian heritage, and the twisted eyelet cable to her attention to detail.

I will keep plugging along and get this done as soon as possible! I have so many other projects floating around in my head, so I’m excited to bring those to you as well.
